Prehistory to 0 AC(After Consolidation)
It is said that the Matak culture originated from a group of nomadic humans who called themselves the Oggelagos(the people who do not wash). The Oggelagos concentrated around inland lakes where berries and fresh water were plentiful. Oggelago mythology described a great migration of this group of people from a world that they called "Earathhhh". Being a primitive culture, the Oggelagos never developed a written language , however the collection of myths that we know of today was verbally passed down from a vague figure named "Kuzoo". In Oggelago mythology, it was fortold that a savior would arrive and enrich the lives of the people. Thus We can see why the Matak tribe was established much faster than the other tribes.

The arrival of her Emerald Majesty consolidated the Oggelagos into an organized tribal Culture called the Matak(one who washes daily). Soon afterwards the populations of the four tribes doubled, quadrupled, and octupled. The Dakini and Blue military forces began patrolling their borders. An arms race soon ensued as all four tribes began building defensize towers and training fire warriors. Perhaps the Shamans wanted conflict. All out war seemed inevitable.

10 AC. to present
From the beginning of the heavenly war the Matak battled the Dakini, the Chumara, and the Blue tribe all over the Populous star system. The green armies of the emerald goddess expanded unto every world of the Populous system. The Matak was the first tribe to successfully use the swamp and invisibility spells in battle. On the world of Fawth, invisible Matak hit squads successfully assasinated both the Blue and the Dakini Shaman. In the battle of Fawth over 100 warriors of the Dakini Shaman were lured into a canyon and then repeatedly gased by our divine Shaman until all had expired. On the world Nimbus, our glorious Shaman obliterated the Blue tribe's stronghold through the ingenious use of the flatten spell. Alas, the strict military discipline of the Matak has stifled creativity among individuals. The lack of brilliant engineers forced our tribe to play catch up to the Dakini and the Chumara. Since the Dakini engineers first discovered boats, the evil and perfidious Dakini Shaman now rule the seas of every world(or at least those worlds with large bodies of water). And even now the Chumara rule the skies of every world because they invented ballons earlier than any other tribe. On the world of Palm the Blue Shaman drowned hundreds of innocent Matak Villigers through the use of the Blue navy and the erode spell. Currently, all four tribes of Populous are engaged in an all out war on the world of Pressure Point, the Matak has suffered heavy casualties but no burden is too heavy to bear as long as the Emerald Goddess commands it.
