Tactics

Offensive:

1. Attack first: The player to attack first not only destroys an opponent's buildings and population, he also gains the critical time necessary to build up his own forces for more attacks. The person who strikes first usually wins the day.

2. Rush Tactic: In multiplayer games it is usually advantageous to get all the people you have and attack an enemy base, because the enemy is busy building up his base, he really has no people or spells to counter an attack. If its a 2 player game, this tactic works almost every time. The trick is to do it almost immediately.

3. Recruit Wildmen: If you're rushing, a good tactic would be to convert as many wildmen as you can on your way to the enemy base. Once there, you army may be 2 to 3 times larger than the entire enemy population, it makes destroying the base that much easier.

4. Ghost Rush: In multiplayer, if an enemy has a strongly fortified position and you don't have any powerful spells, this tactic can be effective. Cast about 50 ghosts and charge the enemy position, mix your real warriors with the ghosts so that at least half the enemy firepower is wasted on ghosts.

5. Organized Attack: Charge up powerful spells such as earthquake or firestorms. Use you shamen to take out enemy towers and launch the spells on the enemy base, thereby blasting a corridor through their defenses. Then send some firewarriors in ballons to secure the foothold, then send in your land army of warriors, firewarriors, and priests.

6. War of Attrition: In this type of a fight, the key is to use the resources of your entire base to build soldiers, keep only enough braves in huts to breed more braves and then train those braves into soldiers to attack the enemy. Don't stop sending waves of warriors until the enemy base is completely destroyed.

Defensive

1. The Best Defense: The best defense is obviously a bold offense, attack the other guy before he attacks you.

2. Religious Power: Train some preachers early on and postion them at strategic positions. These guys can buy you a few precious seconds when the enemy shaman attacks.

3. Defensive towers: Build an interwoven tower network. Basically have firewarriors stationed on the higher towers, and priests in the lower towers that are at the edges of your base. When the enemy attacks, the priests will stop the entire army for a few seconds. In that short time, your firewarriors can cut down many enemy warriors.

4. Complimentary Centers: Expand your settlement across the entire world, build 2 to 3 separate power centers. A power center is basically a cluster of buildings including warrior hut, firewarrior hut, and the preacher hut. When the enemy takes out 1 or even 2 of these major centers, you will still have time to retreat to remaining centers to regroup and counterattack.

5. Mass Exodus: In a large multiplayer world, if an enemy has almost entirely destoryed your settlement then you should migrate. Get between 5 to 10 braves and move to another part of the map. But always leave a few guys on your original base. The enemy will try to pursue you, if they do that then have the remaining villagers rebuild the devasted base. If the enemy stays, then build up at another place. This tactic serves to divide the enemy's military forces, and scatter them across a large area making it easy for you to destroy them.
